After accusing Aria – and the liars – of trying to hurt Meredith, Byron is an apologetic mood to open this week’s Pretty Little Liars. (Byron has taken over from Melissa as the weird one.)
Later the girls, sans Aria, break into Harold Crane’s janitor space and find “A”, but he/she escapes leaving a note behind… “Keep moving ladies. Nothing to see here”.

Meanwhile, the guy whose bicycle wheel “A” compromised was Brad, Spencer’s only challenger for Captain of the academic team. He’s now in hospital and his replacement? Mona Vanderwaal. (I like that Mona is now doing her ‘A’ shit out in the open.) But Mona isn’t happy just being on the team, she challenges Spencer for Captain and wins after beating her in a quiz off.

Earlier, at school, Hanna confronts Lucas and outs him as the ‘A’ in the basement when they broke into Harold’s space. Lucas admits to everything and to setting the explosion that hurt Meredith. It was meant for Mona and he warns Hanna that “we’re not safe” with Mona around. (So you’re afraid of Mona but set a trap for her using a letter from ‘A’?? Why wouldn’t Mona be able to piece together that Lucas is responsible with all of those clues?)

Later, Lucas admits Mona has been blackmailing him after discovering he was selling test answers. (FFS)

Paige and Emily have a run-in with the Toby ‘A’ but the episode ends with a strange alliance of Meredith and Aria. After witnessing a fight between Byron and Meredith, Aria follows her to the coffee shop where she conveniently mouths off that she caught Byron searching Aria’s room. She decided to search his things (Why not? Geez) and found the page from Ali’s diary which she returns to Aria.
More important she admits to Aria that Byron came to her and accused her of being in partnership with Alison to blackmail him. When she convinced him otherwise he stormed off to see Alison. That night turned out to be the last night Alison was seen alive.
