New York Goes to Hollywood: First Look
Enigmatic was among many who saw the New York Goes to Hollywood previews/promos and these are her thoughts:
So now we have the first clips of ‘New York Goes to Hollywood’ and it looks so much better than those horrible promo pics and commercials. I guess the only way I can describe this is a supertrailer mixed with clips from her time on all the shows she’s been on plus extra comments from other VH1 reality show alums.
You can view it for yourself but I thought I’ll share my comments on the haters, the supporters and what I think are the highlights of the supertrailer.
The Haters
Goldie- thinks New York can’t act and she tries to say this bummy looking guy is one of NY’s exes and tries to ask him about some STD rumors. She also thinks New York should stay the size she is because when she gets thin she looks like a “bobblehead.”
Whiteboy- thinks New York would only be suited for roles that require fake weave, breasts and eyelashes. He says he really only wants to see Denzel Washington movies featuring “high-class Puerto Rican girls.”
Hoopz- still hates New York and thinks New York would be good doing “muppet shows.”
Heat- says she might be good at X or XXX rated movies, but he’s still edited to look gay.
The Entertainer- thinks New York would be a horrible actress and needs an acting coach.
The Supporters
Chance and Real- aren’t the most supportive but they still think she’s a good person and might have a shot at being a good actress. Chance also thinks she would be good at doing p*rn.
Midget Mac- thinks she would be a good actress but needs to tone down her attitude.
Heather- is extremely supportive of New York and thinks New York is a natural entertainer.
Daisy- believes she could be friends with New York because she likes her style but hates Sister Patterson and calls her a “wilderbeast” and a “yeti.”
Brandi C- thinks New York must have been a good actress if she was able to pretend to like Flavor Flav.
The Spoilers
However, the clips from the show that really caught my attention in a good and bad way are
1) New York and Sister Patterson (yes she shows up here too) singing Amazing Grace. New York was bad but Sister Patterson was absolutely terrible trying to sing this song. It sounded like a really bad American Idol audition.
2) New York and Tailor Made have a really big argument. Tailor Made looks even lamer than Mr. Boston in this scene and New York accuses him of not being in love with her.
3) New York takes an acting class and meets a guy who may possibly become a new love interest. It looks like she spends a lot of time with him outside the acting class too.
4) New York goes on several auditions and casting calls to do commercials and find managers. Some people are impressed with her and some clearly are not
Matic, Heather’s comment did and din’t surprise me.
I think she sees New York’s career path as the example to follow so I know she won’t hate on her. But still, it was effusive yet genuine.
Heather was probably the most supportive of all of them, other than Midget Mac. The haters were especially evil because they all acted like they couldn’t believe she got another show.
Why is Whiteboy on another show?
He really needs to ‘disapparate’ to Iraq with a George Bush mask on.

his comment really annoyed me because he was one of the very few guys that she treated with respect yes she made fun of him for the kissing thing but she still liked him after that.
she has never said anything bad about him, so for him to say that was really low and uncalled for
I thought he was cooler than that.
This show is pure genius in sooooo many ways:
1) NY lovers cant stop the love and will watch to see her entertain and possibly succeed.
2) NY haters can rarely overcome their hate not to watch, and will watch to see her fail.
3) Since the FOL3 shows dropped in ratings compared to the FOL seasons without NY, she technically only has to match those ratings when Flav carried the show by himself to be successful, since he, like Bret, are considered the stars with lots of history and fan base.
4) Should her first show match any ratings on the level of the any of the first ILNY shows then the show becomes a bona fide hit.
IMHO, her bad acting is actually pretty good “bad acting” as folks think she merely acts badly, though I suspect she really plays the part of a bad actress quite well — and that is part of the secret.
The producers (51 Minds, I presume) will set her up for failure, she will willingly play the clown (without the mask), and haters will continue to tune in thinking that she is failing while ironically and paradoxically giving her success.
The lure is whether or not she makes it to Hollywood, but that is just the bait and switch, as the show itself is the real deal — the other part of the so-called secret.

When his manufactured, being-on-a-tv-show sex appeal kicked in, and women gave him scraps of attention… this is what he’s become.

New York isn’t a bad actress. She’s far from the best but she’s really not as bad as people believe she is. I just want to see her do more serious things because I know she can play the overbearing, exaggerated roles quite well.

Taking on more serious roles would be nice, but shit… let’s face it, she’s a black woman with a non-Hollywood face (unless she goes for the nose job next) and with big breas-tis-sis fighting for limited roles for ordinarily shaped black women. She’s got a tough road to hoe.

OMG, okay obviously New York is an actress and a smart one at that, too. She was smart enough to know how to get her own spin off shows after FOL! (3 including the upcoming Hollywood one) She milks it for all it’s worth and what is dumb about that? Come on now, everyone knows she wasn’t doing the FOL series because she actually liked him. And he obviously wasn’t feeling her so it was mutual.
What pisses me off is three of the guys who diss her horribly came on her show to supposedly get with her! Obviously that was not their intention so they (especially whiteboy! and that’s a shock..I always thought he was genuine!) want to diss her because in reality tv world she is more successful than they are! They want to get all the tv time they can…and damn, I was beginning to crush hard on the Entertainer…but his attitude makes me disappointed and angry…
I see him as more of a jerk now…
All the haters are jealous they haven’t built up to her status. And being reality tv that is sad lol they feel that way. I must say it makes me admire Chance and Real that much more, though. I always liked how they never seemed to think anything disrespectful towards her (or any woman period). Even when their time is up they still have nothing but sweet things to say of her. IMO, they are real. Those three haters that tried to date her (maybe they are just scorned because they were rejected?) piss me off.
And btw, I never understood why people say New York is ugly or she looks like a muppet. I’ve always loved her hair and her make up and always thought she looked great especially on ILNY2. My friends and my husband tell me I’m crazy though lol. I guess I got a different opinion of beautiful than others do! I think that’s a good thing, though.

Thanks syeupz…I think most people forget that even on FOL1 she said she was an aspiring actress near the end of the show. As quickly as she boots men off ILNY…I don’t think she had any feelings whatsoever towards Flavor Flav who dissed her twice. She sees the money and potential fame and she knows how to work it. Girl ain’t stupid lol.
That really sucks though how especially whiteboy dissed her. I was shocked over that him doing that.

Whiteboy seemed like the biggest asshole out of all the guys. I was quite surprised that Midget Mac and 12 Pack were still very supportive of her. Heat and Chance were probably the most ambivalent of everyone because they were trying to give her advice but they were still on that back handed “she would be good at porn” shit.

first off - i LOVED seeing New York again.
I am pleasantly surprised at how good this looks, really. And the few glimpses we have of her - like where she is on the set of Chelsey Lately, she looks amazing, makeup and hair are really done well from what i have seen.
Im just excited.
I cant wait.
and yes CL and maze, I agree, New York is a very INTELLIGENT and highly perceptive/intuitive person - she is able to gauge what is required of her in specific moments and pulls it off everytime which makes her a natural actress - but this is mainly for high melodramatic and almost satirical interactions. Im not so sure she would be a believable raw dramatic actress only because she has become such a caricature at this point.
anyway, i love her.
NY is playing a role, we proabably do not even know who the real NY is. Her behavior and demenor has changed throughout each show she has done. That alone will show you that she has been acting this entire time. She knows how to give people what they want to see. And as far as the haters go, they are highly upset since she goes on TV acting like a total bitch and now has ANOTHER show. They shun her when she tries to be nice off camera but fail to realize she is just playing the game. Actors in Hollywood do it, they play a role but that is not who they really are. When you look at it we have never seen Never seen her off the camera. Sherman Hemsely (the guy from the Jeffersons) played a loud cocky role but that is far from who he is.

Rev, on her challenge to be a believable raw actress by overcoming her caricature-like persona: yyyyyup, I’m on that point, too. Yet, I wish her the best.
If NY is able to make it in Hollywood, then I definitely don’t wanna be an actor. I’m adding myself to the list of haters…that is unless Daisy and NY do become friends, then that’s a different story.

Someone said she has changed on all of her shows, i disagree, she will act somewhat different from show to show because people change!!! She has always acted the same wether or not you think she’s real.

Well, I couldn’t resist putting in my 2 cents on this one.
I am wholeheartedly pulling for the success of this show.
Why?
Because out of all the reality show cast members that 25.5 Minds introduced, Tiffany “New York” Pollard was the only one that was real.
Believe it or not there are hundreds of thousands of “New York”-like young women walking around every day. They came in and out of my various classrooms when they were teenagers. They don’t have a clue about how “Real Life” works and can be fooled into falling for the wrong guy for the wrong reason each and every time.
The thing about these young women is that they don’t get devastated about it…they just get back up and keep on truckin’. These women don’t commit suicide or succumb to drugs…they’re like Scarlett O’Hara…they believe that “Tomorrow is another day”.
Flavor Flav jacked her in FOL…She was devastated, but she survived.
Flavor Flav jacked her in FOL2…She was devastated, but she survived.
Wango, jacked her at the end of ILNY…She was devastated, but she survived.
And if she has broken up Tailor Made…she may cry, but she will survive.
That’s why I will watch any show in which she participates. She has a survival instinct that is missing in so many of our youth. I’m not saying that they should model her actions, but they should model her spirit.
You would survive too if you were getting more and more money for each show you did
New York is a good actress…..for the cheap, over-the-top cussing every second word drama, fake boobs hanging out, fighting, low self-esteem shows that VH1 has put on TV for our viewing pleasure. LOL
She will NEVER be an A-list actress, not in this lifetime or the next. Her overall look is one of a slut and she is not sexy in any form or fashion, at least not to me.
I do think she is funny in a stupid way…..you know those roles where a person has a good heart but is dumber than dumb.
Maybe that’s her niche…..who knows.
I also think she would do OK in soft porn.
No one is going to make her a star. She will trash her own fans,She respect no one. I don’t see her getting along with future casts,producers,directors,etc. Specially with her mother around, New York will never be like Holly Berry, Nicole Kidman or Jessica Alba. She can dream but that doesn’t mean is coming true.
New York very clearly does get along well with producers, directors, and executives, or else she would not keep getting her own show. She’s been on two seasons of flavor of love, two seasons of I love New York, and now New York Goes to Hollywood?
This is all an ACT! Don’t get me wrong, I like her, but people believe she’s crazy and totally looking for love, when she was acting even on the FLAV of love. Even if she did love Flav on Season 1, she was brought back to the Flavor of Love season 2 because their ratings were poor, so they needed crazy NY to fight with the other girls so the ratings would go up. She acted in the interviews like she was the co host along with Flav, so even then VH1 was planning I Love New York, and had already discussed it.
VH1 is apart of MTV networks, which belongs to Viacom, along with Paramount pictures. I’m sure at a minimum she will be doing Paramount movies.
And as for NY’s diva tantrums, please, divas are like that. For those who say she doesn’t have the body of a Hollywood actress, well, look at Queen Latifah!
