Enigmatic’s New York Goes To Hollywood Episode 3 Recap
Episode 3 opens up with New York once again talking about how much work goes into being an actress. She also mentions how impatient she is about getting the things she wants.
This segues into New York becoming increasingly impatient, waiting for Lizza to arrive.
Lizza finally arrives and New York yells at her for being late.
Lizza defends herself by saying she has to drive from Beverly Hills to get to the house. New York thinks Lizza’s tardiness is unacceptable but the argument ends there.
Shortly after, New York and Lizza receive a call from Chuck informing them that he has set up a spec-commercial for a Japanese energy drink. He tells them the commercial is gratis but it could be used as highlights for her reel should everything go well.
Chuck says he will have the script delivered to her house later and suggests she do some research to get an understanding of the Japanese culture.
New York is excited and nervous about the commercial but she is a little disappointed about it being non-paying (I would be disappointed too. Food and bills are expensive as hell now)
Later, New York heads off to acting class where Scott, the instructor, tells everyone they will be studying Love and Shakespeare. He talks to the class about the importance of articulation and he makes them practice a variety of verbal exercises.
One of the exercises includes performing a dialogue with Kelly. Both women have to stick to one sound and use it to create a conversation. The dialogue is a heated argument between the two of them and it goes fairly well until New York gets caught up and slips out of character and says, ‘bitch I’ll whup your motherfucking ass’.
The next exercise consists of the class having to loosen their lips and their jaws and rotating their tongues; presumably to help them make specific sounds. New York thinks these exercises could also be useful for doing things in the bedroom and she turns her attention to Vos in the process because she thinks he’s the hottest guy in the class (Am I the only person who doesn’t see how these exercises could be sexual in any way?)
After the exercises are complete, Scott asks the class to partner-up so they can begin to practice the lines. New York immediately partners with Vos because she says his good looks make him very easy to work with. They practice their lines for a while but mostly we see Vos talking and New York flirting and hugging on him. ::rolling eyes::
After the practice is complete, Scott asks the class if anyone has been pursuing any outside work. New York uses this opportunity to mention the Japanese commercial. Scott praises her and reiterates, “Work begets work.”
After class, New York decides she wants to begin her research for the commercial.
First she goes to the cleaners and asks the lady in the front if she is Japanese. The lady replies that she is Korean and knows no Japanese. New York then leaves and goes to a nail shop.
While she gets her nails done she asks if they are Japanese but the ladies giggle and talk amongst each other, seemingly mocking her.
The ladies then play on New York’s ignorance about them and try to say they are from some nonexistent place (I personally would have guessed them to be Vietnamese but I don’t know. I never go get my nails done)
After the manicure, New York goes outside to curse out a patiently waiting Lizza about taking her to places where there are no Japanese people. Lizza cuts in and tells her they are about to go to a Japanese restaurant (Why didn’t they go there first?) …New York calms down and they go to the restaurant.
When they get to the restaurant they meet the chef, who actually is Japanese. New York tries to ask for a menu but the chef repeats many times that she will serve them what she wants to serve them. First she serves sushi but New York doesn’t like it (I have a feeling that if VH1 knew this in advance, they would have made New York and the Entertainer go on a date just so they could bring them to this restaurant)
Next, the chef tries to serve octopus legs but New York refuses to eat that as well. Finally the chef serves something else and New York enjoys it.
After the meal, New York takes the opportunity to ask the chef about how to say certain words in Japanese. New York gets a brief lesson and then decides to go home.
Once she arrives home she notices that the script is there and she only has one line. The line is supposed to be said in Japanese but it translates into “Because life has chops.”
The next morning, New York goes to the site of the commercial shoot and Felicia Tsai, the assistant director of the shoot, greets her. Felicia gives New York a tour, which includes a buffet of raw -and still living- fish and octopus. New York cringes at the buffet -as do I- and makes the decision to not eat anything from there.
The tour ends at the dressing room where she meets the director, Akhito Kitamura. Akhito only speaks Japanese so Felicia serves as New York’s translator.
The first order of business is to show New York the drink she will have to advertise. New York is then instructed to try the drink but she tries her best to avoid tasting it because it smells so horrible (How did I know the drink was gonna be nasty?)
After that incident Akhito asks New York to say the line for him to hear her pronunciation.
New York tries to say the line in a sexy manner but the Casting Director realizes that the line is completely incorrect. When New York shows Akhito the script she received Felicia tries to apologize for sending her the wrong script. Akhito flips out and hits Felicia causing New York to feel shocked and uncomfortable around him (Damn. This man is crazy)
Finally New York gets dressed and practices the new line before the shoot starts. When she goes outside to start the shoot, New York is instructed to meditate at the beginning of the commercial until the director tells her to start.
The first part of the commercial begins with New York having to drink some of the energy drink. This part requires several takes because New York keeps spitting the drink out. In the confessional, New York describes the drink as “disgusting and rank.”
After that part of the commercial is complete, Akhito now wants to move to the segment where New York has to break a board with her hands.
After several tries, the board refuses to break and Akhito gets extremely frustrated at the art director about the board not breaking. After another try, New York tries to break the board with her elbow and when it doesn’t break, New York goes to curse out the art director but Akhito takes matters into his own hands and starts kicking the art director’s ass himself (WTF kinda commercial is this?)
New York laughs at this display and goes to check on her hand and elbow.
After things settle down they try to do one more take of the scene and New York tells the art director “If this board doesn’t break off I’ma break off all in your ass.”
Akhito laughs before telling her to begin the scene.
New York tries to break the board one more time and this time it breaks. After the initial surprise about the board finally breaking, New York blurts out her line and gives the camera a couple of looks while everyone remains silent.
Finally, Akhito cheers and says the commercial was good.
Feeling relieved, New York goes back to her dressing room to talk to Lizza about wanting to go home after a crazy, frustrating day.

Should I which this show steups because i have not watch one Episode yet and basically don’t care to but i will watch if you ask me to
This show sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is a talentless hack. Tell VH1 stop wasting their money paying her and just give it to me instead.
This episode was even more foolish than the first two and what Japanese production company is going to cast an “unknown” from Hollywood to film one of their commercials for an energy drink. They would try to get a well known actor or actress,a famous sports person or use one of their own people. Fake, fake, fake.
These Japanese actors must be Z list actors. Their acting was so transparent. Hitting the wommen over the head, then the other two had a fight and broke the buffet table down.
Next week her crazy mama makes her appearance.
So……obviously this whole frame story episode is ridiculously fake. Its very apparent that the whole commercial portion was total bullshit, I should have guessed it when the guy on the phone says its a “SPEC” commercial. A spec commercial is a commercial thats made entirely for show. In this case to add fodder to New York’s, I’m guessing, horrendous portfolio, of acting gigs. Getting spit on, sleeping with Flavor Flav, and now this? I can hear the directors clamoring over each other to beat down her door offering acting roles in major films. So that means there is no Japanese energy drink, the oriental people were not a Japanese film crew, and none of the ensuing dribble they call a show was real. Do you really think hitting assistants and tackling your art director is standard operating procedure? Not in America, not in Mexico, not even in the land that birthed misogyny; Japan. (well maybe in Mexico….or The Valley)
touche Joann, I’m glad there’s at least one person out there that has half a brain. You’ve given me hope. Thank you.
I see the haters are out tonight.
I think this show is funny. When I started watching it I was not expecting her to perform like Angelia Bassett(sp).
If you watch some of the stuff on CBS, NBC, & ABC, you will see that the stars don’t have any more talent than NY.
I am always happy to see someone try. You don’t think she’s got talent? This young lady invented her own character. Many have tried to duplicate her character but can’t.
so….”Lia” is it?….you aren’t by any chance New York or her mom are you? I only ask because those have got to be the only two human beings on earth that would take the time to write something in her defense….
Also, lets be real here….I’m not hating on her particularly, I mean shit, shes rich, famous, I mean shes more famous than me, and she gets paid to do what she loves…these are all better arguments in favor of NY than any of the ones you made in your comment.
And being pseudo-famous she puts herself in the public’s eye, and therefore opens herself up to criticisms, and if she is truly aspiring to be an honest to goodness “actress” she needs to be able to handle criticism.
All that aside, I have no real issues with her as a person. But this show is garbage, No I didn’t expect her to be Angela Bassett but her lack of talent is ridiculous. And no, this show really isn’t funny, not in a ha ha way at least, maybe a funny sad kinda way. She can’t even speak correctly, did she really think she was cut out to play Condoleeza Rice? Also, CBS NBC and ABC have tons of shows that are consistently hilarious, and thats why they win Emmey’s, and thats why they pay their actors the big bucks, and draw the big money advertisers, and they all have more talent than NY.
I have no problem with people trying to make their way, but watching someone try and fail is less entertaining.
One final thing, if you couldn’t tell the whole Japanese commercial deal was as fake as her chest, you just might be as moronic as she is.
wow my comments must have offended your sensibilities….why would you delete them? they were valid comments and deserved to be posted….but thank you, I’ll make sure to never mention this website on the blog I work for….its a big one too…but gl to you and yours.
Why is this trash still getting air time? she just need to put a dick in her mouth and just call it a day this bitch will never be a real actress Cris Abrego and Mark Cronin stop the bullshit please
People got to understand that she is trying to become a actress. She is learning. Taking classes…. Doing the right thing on what it takes to become a successful actress. Think about it… She had to do good or they wouldn’t have even aired this show. They will show her growth from week to week and by the end of the show she will probably have a good acting gig! Yall people need to calm down. She is in training!! How many of yall are in movies?….. I think she is doing a great job to be just starting off. When i first starting acting i was fucking up all the time
I have said it before and I will say it again. This “going to Hollywood to become a serious actress” is fake.
This is just another type of Reality show from VH1/51 Minds starring NY trying to make it in Hollywood AS Tiffany Pollard.
She has no intentions of trying to become a serious actress.
What person in their right mind would be acting like this if they were trying to become a serious actress.
“If you watch some of the stuff on CBS, NBC, & ABC, you will see that the stars don’t have any more talent than NY.”
New York is WAY more talented than all those Olympians. [/ lying ]
I’m still not convinced the show is entirely scripted yet. I think VH1 certainly influences the environment and atmosphere and Tiffany makes a scene with what VH1 presents her with. For example, I think the “stalker” was constantly around the same places as Tiffany because VH1 promised to pay her with TV time, and New York new what was going on but made a scene out of it for the sake of her TV show.
@????,
True, there are shows on each of those networks where the actors, actresses do not display much talent, but the only difference is they are not using bitch, mf and kiss my ass in every sentence.
Along with having no acting talent, she has a skank attitude, which fits right in with those over-the-top low-class VH1 reality shows.
51 Minds know she’s not going any further than reality TV with that attitude, so they give her ANOTHER REALITY SHOW as Tiffany Pollard trying to make it as an actress in Hollywood.
If they REALLY thought she was for real about becoming a serious actress AND had the talent for it, I feel, they would have starred her in a quality venue.
That is why I say NYGTH is fake and at least 95% scripted.
I think all this show is about is transitioning New York back into Tiffany. That, and VH1 milking the last drop they can get out of her. Brooke Hogan’s show is just as set up as this one
@ Kimmy,
Yor are correct. All those VH1 reality shows are fake.
when i look at new york i can only think of one thing titty fucking the shit out of her so i can burst one of her implant then make her mother the Creature from the Black Lagoon look on in Horror
WOW… It’s a show - if you think it is garbage, don’t watch it…
VH1’s whole celebreality niche is to put trainwrecks on TV. They do this because it works for them. Think about these shows, Surreal Life, Strange Love, Flavor of Love, I love money, Hogan knows best, Scott Baio’s show, fit club, Charm School… They revolve around drama and that is their intention. They took their channel from being the MTV for old people and brought back in the younger demographics and have brought in viewers.
People in general, like to see other people in general act stupid and New York is the queen of acting stupid (whether it is just an act or not). But, VH1 is making money, New York is making money (Remember what the acting coach said - “work begets work”) and people are watching.
So stop complaining about why the show is on TV. It is on because you watch it and complain about it, but you are still watching it.
(I’m now going back to my own trainwreck of a life which thankfully is not on TV)
Good recap, comments, and pics.
Japanese is the new ebonics.
Everyone get ready for ILNY3.
How fake was the commercial plot? Seriously.
@ laestrella,
You are right about complaining about the show and yet still watching it.
I was holding on to see the ” fake breakup” with NY and Tailor Made which I thought would be around episode 3 or 4. Basically I wanted to see if TM had grown any balls and how they scripted his part, since it is a carryover from ILNY2. I thought it would be shown by now.
I will not be watching this show next week or any other week thereafter. If I am still curious about how they scripted the breakup I will read about it on the recap here or on VH1.
@JoAnn
Hi again…this is just for ENTERTAINMENT. Good or Bad…ENTERTAINMENT…nothing more, nothing less…There will be a ILNY3…she will not make it as a serious actress!!! So enjoy the show and make your comments. I love them all…for her or against her…just keep watching the DAMN show already!!!!
p.s. Hello ALL…
I want to see New York on ILM2. I bet she’d compete for the money. Not that she would last long since the whole house would hate her but I bet she’d go out with a bang… New York style.
@ Babygirl~Pebbles,
Hi to you also.
Babygirl, this not entertainment in my book.
I find nothing funny or entertaining about a foul-mouth, hooker looking mess talking down to people, calling them bitches on a constant basis, kicking ass, mf’s and so on, week after week after week on a TV show.
I would not care if there was an ILNY100, if she acts the same way she acts now I still would not look.
I am done, done, done, watching this fake show and this gross person called NY.
@JoAnn
Now come on…you know Vh1 script this show…They is using NY…as she is them…they will keep using her as long as the ratings keep coming in.
Different strokes for different folks…like I said…this is ENTERTAINMENT..that all…nothing more or nothing less. There are many kind of entertainment…some we like and some we don’t. I see NY goes to Hollywood is one you don’t like. I get it. You have made it loud and clear to me for 10 or more time…I get it…you don’t like her.
Still, I don’t understand why you don’t get the humor of this show. Hate her or love her…she is silly. I don’t agree with everything she do or say…but it is the person problem she is talking to, to put her in check. Laugh at them for being so stupid. We all know in real life she will not be talking to people like that…they would of been got in her ASS!
JoAnn somebody is likeing this show, it still on another week for us to comment on.
I understand you, you don’t find humor in NY…Just like I can’t find humor in fat jokes, women being second to men jokes, retarded jokes and so on. I don’t know what to tell you to keep watching…but, I will say…thank you so much for your opinion and comments on this show.
p.s. Hello ALL…
SCRIPTED… but hilarious.
That’s what I have to say.
Most comedies are scripted too.
@Dave…I agree with you 100%!!!!
@ Babygirl~Pebbles,
Hello again.
Yea I know the show is scripted but the character just annoys me. I have nothing against NY personally, it’s the CHARACTER she portrays. I don’t find it entertaining and can’t find it in my heart to continue to watch this dribble.
Thank you for your opinion also and it was good to debate with you in a constructive manner. Hopefully, we can do this again….though not with this show. LOL
actually the women in the nail shop were actually Korean. i’m korean and they kept saying “hanguk saram: korean person” or hanguki or hanguk which is korean.
Now I wanted very much to like the show. I have been reading it is faked and sometimes I might agree. On the other hand, the only thing I have against NY is that she is so easy to call people names. I mean the break a leg thing where she didn’t know what it meant was just crazy. Who in the United States does not know what that means?
If she would spend less time being argumentative things might work out for her. She and Lizza might make a good team. I was disappointed to see **spoiler alert** that she broke up with Tailor Made, I thought they could have worked out.
Her mother should stay out of it she is a crazy woman. Tranny or otherwise it makes no sense for a grown woman with a daughter who is a grown woman to act so NUTS. I am glad to see she left.
I am hoping the show will look up next week.
