Enigmatic’s New York Goes To Hollywood Recap: And She Sings
Episode 5 opens up with New York aggravated by her mother’s presence until Chuck calls to tell her that the group ‘Little Jackie’ wants her to do some background vocals.
New York is happy and comments about wanting to be a singer (I have a feeling she can’t sing. The wannabe singers are never the good singers)
Lizza is late again, and New York looks out for her until she eventually calls-in sick. Sister Patterson answers the phone and accuses her of being on her period while Lizza complains of having bad cramps (I can relate because that shit is debilitating sometimes)
Sister Patterson screams at Lizza and tells her not to come back if she refuses to show up today.
New York is disappointed in Lizza’s absence but thinks Sister Patterson was rude to Lizza.
Because Sister Patterson refuses to drive, New York ends up calling a cab. The cab arrives and immediately Sister Patterson complains about the cab smelling like onions. Sister Patterson continues to yell and complain until they eventually arrive at the studio 45 minutes late.
When they arrive at the studio, they greet the vocal coach and he asks New York about her musical background.
When he discovers she has no musical experience, he makes her do a few vocal exercises.
New York’s singing voice is horrible…very horrible. But Sister Patterson’s voice is 10 times worse as she interjects herself into the musical lesson (Now I can’t sing but at least I don’t sound like a man or a cat when I try).
New York is frustrated with her mom’s dominance and shares her thoughts about not wanting to share the spotlight with anyone. New York and Sister Patterson finally leave the studio and New York is relieved to do so.
The next morning, New York continues to complain about Sister Patterson’s intrusion, claming that she has even kicked her out of her bed (Damn! SMH. I don’t know about other folks but I would have put my foot down at that point)
Lizza calls and says she isn’t coming in again because she can’t deal with Sister Patterson anymore. She says she would like to keep working for New York but refuses to come back if Sister Patterson sticks around.
New York is still a little disappointed about Lizza’s refusal to show up but understands why Lizza feels this way.
After going to ask Sister Patterson about driving her to the studio, Sister Patterson once again refuses to drive, and forces New York to call a cab again. When the cab arrives, New York discovers it’s the same driver from the day before.
During the cab ride, Sister Patterson is a lot more demure and the cab ride is pretty pleasant.
New York and Sister Patterson arrive at the studio to meet Imani and Adam (the group members of Little Jackie). They discuss New York singing on their debut song, then elaborate about really only wanting her to sing a little bit of the opening; some background vocals; and then do a little freestyle.
They then ask New York if she has taken any vocal lessons. New York explains she had only one, short course the day before; but Sister Patterson interrupts them, saying New York doesn’t need vocal lessons (Just because she sings slightly better than you doesn’t mean she doesn’t need them).
When they begin, the first take goes ok until the end as New York goes off-key. Sister Patterson interrupts again, and accuses Imani and Adam of making New York look stupid (New York already does a good job of that on her own).
Imani & Sister Patterson then get into a heated argument and Sister Patterson threatens to leave and take New York with her.
New York wants to stay so she feels she needs to talk to her mom. Sister Patterson doesn’t want to go back in but she will allow New York to continue without her.
New York settles on leaving her mom out in the lobby while she continues with the vocal session.
After resuming the session, this take is remarkably better although the freestyle is off-beat. After all the vocals are done, Imani tells New York she is much better to deal with when her mother isn’t around. New York gets offended and defends her mother causing New York and Imani to have a small altercation (So a big movie producer says something and you act humble but a person in a starter music group says the same thing and you get offended. WTF?)
New York complains about wanting to maintain the ‘positive energy’ from the day but leaves the studio in anger.
The cab ride back home is awkwardly quiet as New York reflects on what has taken place over the last couple days.
When they arrive home, New York cooks for herself and her mom but dinner is awkward.
Finally she talks to her mom about her presence and states she needs to pursue her career alone, and would prefer that Sister Patterson offered her support from afar.
Sister Patterson agrees to leave but offers to come back if needed (New York has that “I’m not calling your ass” look on her face right now.)
Seeing Sister Patterson leave makes New York very emotional, but in the ‘Confessional’ New York admits she was happy to see her go.

steups What up Fam i hope you are enjoying your labor day i know i am

Ok..question…what is your problem? Lol, you say you don’t watch this bullshit on tv but yet you’ll read about it? And Entertainer isn’t 36. I just don’t think you need to attack other posters for no reason at all. If it doesn’t affect you, get over it and move on with your life and quit trying to start shit….dumbass.
hahahahaha maze Leave dude alone he just going Thru Some shit With his son mom he’s cool steups what going on bro
Oh Yah steups i just produced a joint With Memphis Bleek and Uncle Murda this shit is crazy hit me up on myspace before i fly back to LA this week
I did enjoy hearing the interview with entertainer though so thanks Brina. Lol, you got some crazy fools calling in talking about having his babies and stuff lol. I don’t think entertainer is hot but I think he’s just sexy as hell and I could see him shoving it in me hard and being good with his mouth too lol. I definiely believe he is still a manwhore though…he is not ready to commit yet and I don’t think he will be for a while.
“being good with his mouth too”
Now, whatever on earth would give you THAT impression? LOL
I seen his tongue work a couple of foots before and I also just still think this guy is a complete freak down for anything and I get the feeling he knows what he’s doing. I also think he’s hung like a racehorse. I’ve heard about Italians.
haha, yeah, I was being sarcastic.
LAYS90 SHUT UP

Lemme guess, Lizza gained weight to make New York look smaller? lol
I noticed on the show that Lizza wasn’t a small girl. She doesn’t look any different on that pic than she does on the show. New York has said she lost a little weight. However, that damn blue eye shadow looks a fucking mess and every makeup counter in New York City and Los Angeles should restrict her from buying it from them.
I know that I can’t stand the blue eye shadow either, but I must remind myself to give Tiffany the benefit of the doubt that she could be “dressing up” as “New York” when wearing that crap.
The extra, “Down and Out in Hollywood: Episode 5,” is a clip that makes me think that even Sister Paterson has been playing the role of overbearing mother and deserves a paycheck if she hasn’t cashed one already. In this clip, she and New York just seem to be having an almost normal non-camera moment where Sister Paterson seems to imply “Are you done with me now? May I go back to my life?” as if she was asked to come on the show. You can almost sense the producers having said, “Okay, now we need the scene where “New York” tells her mother to leave.” Anyway, check out Sister Paterson sport an old south accent.
Who is Tiffany Pollard/Pollack? Where are the high school classmates showing off old yearbook pics of her, where is any tie to any existense of a past? Maybe she isn’t big enough to make them come out of the wood works or she’s an alien beemed to oour planet from the BLUE EYESHADOW PEOPLE
Hey Steups here is the song they was recording.
It just dawn on me this is Ny theme song.
For that want to know if the arguement was real between Imani and Ny mom

was it staged?
For those of you who are wondering whether or not the altercation between sister patterson and I on “i love NY goes to Hollywood” was staged here’s my answer:
Hell no…that shit was real.
xxoo
imani
Actually…the argument was a lot worse…they edited the hell out of it. I aint got no control of that shit…not my fault…all I know…I’m glad it’s done with. I didn’t exactly enjoy the experience.
[source]
Thanks Shawn; but you’re hella late on that theme song thing, lol.
what up steups is this true or not about flav son
Loving that song. It has a strong beat and good words. That is one of those songs people will be playing for a long time for different occasions. You know like “We Are Family and “Respect”.
I swear one of the girls sitting on the stoop is Rosie Perez.
Right after Imani says “I know I rock and what I got is hot” then points to her and she is shown again right after the dude is doing hand-stands.
Did anyone else see that?
@Enigmatic Anon,
“every makeup counter in New York City and Los Angeles should restrict her from buying it from them.”…..LOL, LOL,OMG you made my day with that one.
I know I know. I’m kinda digging the song so that I listen to the lyrics of it.
Check this out do you know who are the winners for RJay new show.
I swear your girl is killing it on the other side.
LOL
who the winner of Ray Jay show Shawn LOL
The song that NY was recording with Little Jackie is not the theme song. The theme song is the one in which Rosie Perez is in the video for. The recorded song is another single off of the cd.
Thanks for confirming that Keisha.
I was 99% sure that was Rosie.
Oh yea, Jo, we can never forget a “Flyy Girl” from In Living Color.lol Rosie went on to do big things. She’s not given enough credit for her acting abilities in my opinion.
She was a Fly Girl also? Whoa…..did not know that.
I like her a lot. I hadn’t seen or heard of her in quite a while which is why I wanted confirmation that was really her in that video.
She still looks cute as she did when I use to see her in movies. I hope she comes back with something.
To Jo:
Rosie was in a 2007 HBO film titled “Lackawanna Blues” that was based on a true story. She had a supporting role and the film also starred Hill Harper.
Yep, the more I hear that song, the more I like it.
Pimp, that seems false, no?
Yeah Joan, she and Jennifer Lopez
@Keisha,
Thanks for the update girl. I have to check that out. I am sure they have it on DVD.
@setupz,
I knew about J-Lo, but was totally surprised about Rosie.
SUE ME FOR SAYIN THIS BUT IM GONNA SPEAK PEACE 360%
AS FOR THE BLOGSPOT..
STEUPZ ESTABLISHED THAT BLOG AND THOSE WHO SNATCHED THE BLOG WERE ALWAYS THIRSTY FROM THE BEGINNING.. CRAVING ATENTION THAT REAL LIFE NEVER OFFERED. SO DESPERATE THAT THEY WERE WILLIN TO TAKE SOMETHING SOMEONE PUT TIME IN EFFORT INTO AND WASTE IT! CRAVING THE RESPECT AND REPUTATION OF ANOTHER… NONE OF THEIR WRITING SKILLS COULD HAVE EVER MEASURED UP TO STEUPZ. HE EVEN OUTSHINED THEM ON THE PODCAST & BLOGTALK RADIO. HOW SIMPLE MINDED AND DELUSIONAL MUST ONE BE WHEN THEY TRY TO DEFEAT THE ONE WHO TAUGHT THEM! ITS ALWAYS BETTER TO WAIT FOR THE MASTER TO HAND THE THRONE DOWN TO YOU… ITS MORE RESPECTFUL TO PAY YOUR DUES AND WAIT YOUR TURN.. BUT BECAUSE OF THEIR LACK OF RESPECT, THEY’LL ALWAYS LACK THE RESPECT THEY DESIRED SO DESPERATELY..
I LOVE MONEY..
I SWEAR ALL OF THIS BACKSTABBIN IS DRIVING ME WILD. FIRST OF ALL I HATE THE FACT THAT HOOPZ IS PLAYIN THE GOOD GIRL ROLE LIKE SHE WOULDNT CUT SOMEONES THROAT. I HAVE A FEELIN THAT WE’RE ALL IN FOR A SHOCK TOWARDS THE END. WE SAW WHAT HOOPZ DID TO FLAV. RIGHT AFTER THE SHOW SHE TURNED INTO THIS BIG SOCIALITE AND FORGOT ABOUT FLAV.. WAIT A MINUTE.. DONT THEY ALL?
I SWEAR THE ENTERTAINER ALWAYS CAME ACROSS AS A WILD AND FREE SPIRIT OPPOSED TO CRAZY, BUT I CHANGED MY MIND THIS EPISODE.
MEGAN IS THE BIGGEST THREAD IN THAT HOUSE AND SHE IS THE MOST TWO-FACED. THE ENTERTAIN LET HER STAY JUST TO HAVE A CHANCE TO BE IN THE WHITEBOY ALLIANCE! HE’S CRAZY!!!! IT WAS CLEAR WHEN THEY HAD THEIR “HEART 2 HEART” THAT WHITEBOY HAD TROUBLE STOMACHING THE MAN. SAD TO SEE HE WAS JUST A PAWN LAST EPISODE.
HONESTLY I WOULD LOVE TO REAL WIN. HE’S A REAL SINCERE DUDE.. BUT THEN AGAIN HIS FAMILY IS WELL OFF.
SMOOCHES
J-Lo replaced Rosie to be technical. And, you can find Lackawanna Blues on DVD as well as on BET.lol They air it at least once monthly.
Oh damn, lady luck…. (blushes)
That’s…. too much.
(lemme go cook)
LMFAO steups you actually cook so sad
Thanks again for more updates Keisha.
Vh1, needs to try again. We all know whenever New York’s mom is in the picture there is nothing but drama. I know that most of the stuff from the show is probably set up but NY needs to grow a back bone and let me mother know to back off while she tries to find what she wants in life. The same thing that happened with ILNY is happening now. Your mother cannot run your life regardless how much you love her.
Was Tiffany’s background vocals actually used in the song she contributed to? The Stoop? I couldn’t tell listening to the track.
