Showtime’s Dexter: Why He is Who He is
Slowly but surely we are getting into Dexter. And as if by Divine intervention, Showtime is giving Mel-licious a hand with a well prepared back-story to the Dexter character.
It’s your opportunity to learn why it’s not ridiculous tv for a blood spatter analyst/husband, to be a serial killer/vigilante, trained and raised by his adopted father/policeman.

There already is a back story.
In fact, there are now four books worth of back story. They are quite good (haven’t read #4 yet)…..
In fact, I wish some of the specific incidents of the books had been used in the show. For example, Doakes didn’t die.
Who’s Doakes, Futter?
And is it just me, or you seem to know a lot about A LOT!
Doakes was the beautiful specimen of a black man who was killed by Lila in the series. He was an ill-tempered detective who was always suspicious of Dexter; he found out Dex was a serial killer right before Lila killed him at the end of season 2…

That link is bad.
I know Doakes then
Yes, you should…
Link broken, eh?
Try this one:

It just seems that way because I happen to know a lot about specific interests we have in common.
Do yourself a favor though, and read the books. The first one follows the first season of the show fairly well, the third one is odd and not overly great….but the killer and what happens to Doakes in the 2nd book make me wish they had used that storyboard for the 2nd season instead of the whole Lila thing.
This back-story seems very unnecessary. I think the show has done a well enough job of fleshing out who he is and how he has come about while still leaving room for more depth down the line.
This coming from me; who just finished watching the first 2 seasons, and my eagerness to engulf the 3rd and 4th seasons.
Dang, you’ve moved quickly.
I completely missed Season 3
I got season 1 to the present of Dexter saved in my favorites and will start going through it tomorrow. This show has me hooked.
Steupz, the TB & Dexter recaps have taken Bourgy to new heights.
You know, if someone recapped horror/slasher/cult flicks, I would love them forever.
