I read that and it was one of the most disgusting articles I have read in a long time. Bunch of lowdown dogs, in fact they are worst than dogs and the the people who saw it and did nothing are worst than they are.
It’s one of the major news stories here in the Bay Area. The other is pieces of new bridge falling and hitting 3 cars.
They now have 5 in custody, 1 is pleading not guilty but are still searching for more. I think they really need to question the person that made the 911 call. He or she wasn’t at the scene but across town at a house party, got a phone call from someone who was watching the rape and decided to call the police (Thank God!) but who is the person that called and why didn’t they call the police themselves or were they calling to brag? There are about 10 more people the police are trying to find. I know with the privacy laws and everything this isn’t possible but I would seriously want to search everyone’s cell phones because it’s been said that several people took pics with their phones. Richmond has been so damn wild for sometime. Full of sick fools. I lived there for 1 year and couldn’t wait to move!
My initial instinct (and I’m not making judgments about the girl, and am fully aware I could be WAAYYYY off) is that the girl got plastered and/or took something, and maybe sort of consented to the initial sex with the guy she knew, and then some others joined in and she was too out of it to resist. So the people just watching, not realizing that having sex with an intoxicated chick (not to mention a minor) actually qualifies as rape, just thought “Lets watch this drunk slut” and a couple thought “Well, I might as well join in.”
That, or it literally was a street gang thing, are the only things I can see making sense. Hell, even the incident that The Accused was based on, someone who witnessed it reported it, even though his friend was actively involved. Especially the “Reminiscing” part. It’s also different than the Kitty Genovese murder, because that didn’t draw a crowd who watched and/or participated.
Tragic though, no matter the circumstances (unless she was being “raped in” to a gang….then it’s a sad commentary on society, and not so much a tragedy).
She left the party early to meet her father, ran into some “friends”, went to the darker area to have a drink and was then overpowered by a couple of males she didn’t know and was beaten and raped. Others stood around,stole her jewelry, and took pictures.
Two girls today came forward who said they know the girl very well and unfortunately she was the type that tried to “fit in” with the in-crowd. Her entire social life revolved around church but the friends she was making at school were a wilder bunch.

Oh and officials are saying the beating rape lasted almost 2 hours!So it wasn’t something that happened really quick it was a drawn out process and there were Richmond Police officers closer to the school as well as school security at the doors and inside of the dance. The rape occured in a park near the school that has no lights at night and cannot be seen from the school parking lot

Ok it’s not really a park but I’m not sure what you would call it. The Bay Area has thousands of little places like this: small area of grass and picnic table or bench. We usually just refer to them as “wino parks” because winos, drug addicts and the homeless usually hang in these areas.
If you watch the vide that’s with the earlier story it will show you the area. It’s not an alleyway at all. Now is that area considered part of school property? I’m not quite sure but if it is they never send security to patrol that area because even in broad day lights folks are sitting there drinking.

Getting so drunk that you cant stand up is totally stupid & irresponsible, but it in no way equals consent. That girl was foolish, but she wasnt asking to get raped and beaten by multiple guys. I dont think anyone who saw it thought it was “consensual” sex.
